    Introduction to BPM approach in Healthcare and Case Study of End User Interaction with EHR Interface

    Nowadays, process management is a key factor in the success of organizations. The market in which the organizations operate is increasingly competitive. This increase makes the improvement of business processes a constant and essential need in organizations. In recent years, organizations increasingly choose to adopt Business Process Management (BPM) and try to use the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) to model their processes and, as a result, to make their systems and applications more interoperable with others. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is another system for the exploitation of clinical and administrative information. Much of the information is generated in the EHR itself, the rest of the information results from external systems and are loaded into the EHR support database. This technology is a system with encrypted clinical information used in hospitals. This article looks at what BPMN is, and how BPMN can be a solution for an EHR. As a result, BPMN workflow diagrams of the system processes of the study case organization were created. The platform used in the case study is the Agency for Integration, Archive and Diffusion of Medical Information (AIDA) platform.     Relevance, benefits, and problems of software modelling and model driven techniques—A survey in the Italian industry

    Context Claimed benefits of software modelling and model driven techniques are improvements in productivity, portability, maintainability and interoperability. However, little effort has been devoted at collecting evidence to evaluate their actual relevance, benefits and usage complications. Goal The main goals of this paper are: (1) assess the diffusion and relevance of software modelling and MD techniques in the Italian industry, (2) understand the expected and achieved benefits, and (3) identify which problems limit/prevent their diffusion. Method We conducted an exploratory personal opinion survey with a sample of 155 Italian software professionals by means of a Web-based questionnaire on-line from February to April 2011. Results Software modelling and MD techniques are very relevant in the Italian industry. The adoption of simple modelling brings common benefits (better design support, documentation improvement, better maintenance, and higher software quality), while MD techniques make it easier to achieve: improved standardization, higher productivity, and platform independence. We identified problems, some hindering adoption (too much effort required and limited usefulness) others preventing it (lack of competencies and supporting tools). Conclusions The relevance represents an important objective motivation for researchers in this area. The relationship between techniques and attainable benefits represents an instrument for practitioners planning the adoption of such techniques.     Distributed Model-to-Model Transformation with ATL on MapReduce

    International audienceEfficient processing of very large models is a key requirement for the adoption of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) in some industrial contexts. One of the central operations in MDE is rule-based model transformation (MT). It is used to specify manipulation operations over structured data coming in the form of model graphs. However, being based on com-putationally expensive operations like subgraph isomorphism, MT tools are facing issues on both memory occupancy and execution time while dealing with the increasing model size and complexity. One way to overcome these issues is to exploit the wide availability of distributed clusters in the Cloud for the distributed execution of MT. In this paper, we propose an approach to automatically distribute the execution of model transformations written in a popular MT language, ATL, on top of a well-known distributed programming model, MapReduce. We show how the execution semantics of ATL can be aligned with the MapReduce computation model. We describe the extensions to the ATL transformation engine to enable distribution, and we experimentally demonstrate the scalability of this solution in a reverse-engineering scenario

    El presente artículo analiza la importancia de la prensa árabe en el proceso de modernización del Próximo Oriente (ss.XIX y XX), centrando su interés en la prensa de la emigración (Mahyar) de Latinoamérica. Las revistas chilenas El Triunfo (Surilandia, 1930) y Laiazul (Chile, 1945) del intelectual y poeta sirobrasileño Assis Féres, sirven de pretexto para aproximarnos al "arabismo iberoamericano" que ambas revistas propugnan, abriendo nuevas perspectivas de análisis en el discurso literario del Mahyar yanubi.This article analyzes the importance of the Arabic press in the modernization of the Middle East during the 19th and 20th centuries, with special emphasis on the emigrant (Mahyar) press in Latin America. The Chilean journals El Triunfo (Surilandia, 1930) and Laiazul (Chile, 1945) founded by the Sirio-Brazilian poet and intellectual Assis Féres, are examined for the “Ibero-American Arabism” that they defend, leading to new approaches to the analysis of the literary discourse of Mahyar yanûbî
